The Arches
is a very friendly, family run guesthouse, which prides itself on
cleanliness, a warm welcome and large breakfasts. Centrally
located within Whitby's West Cliff Conservation Area, The Arches is
close to all amenities and attractions. A five minutes walk will take
you to the centre of town and the sea front is just a short stroll away. This
is the ideal base for experiencing the old world charms of this historic
seaport, whose tranquil and pleasant atmosphere guarantees rest and
relaxation.
A choice
of en-suite Double, Family and Twin rooms cater for most guest's
requirements, and ground floor rooms are ideal for guests with
impaired mobility. Our 2 Single rooms have individual private bathrooms.
Less able
guests are requested to telephone to discuss their particular
requirements. Please note that access to The Arches is via a shallow
flight of 5 steps with hand rail. Regrettably, The Arches is not
suitable for wheelchair bound guests. A full Access Statement is available
on request.
Gay Friendly
Whatever your sexual orientation, colour or creed, you are always welcome
at The Arches.
All
rooms are centrally heated, have colour televisions, hospitality trays,
hairdryers, radio alarm clocks, air circulation fans and comfortable beds. Ironing facilities are available.
Pets
with well behaved owners, are most welcome. (Donations to Whitby Dog
Rescue accepted).
PARKING
We do not have private parking,
but ample free and unrestricted On-Street parking is available to
those with patience and forbearance. If you wish to take the hassle
out of parking in Whitby (and indeed many areas of Scarborough
Borough), why not buy an Off-Street Advanced Parking Ticket from the
Whitby Tourist Information Centre (via 01723 232323). You may purchase
a minimum of 2 day and a maximum of 7 day parking permits, which works
out considerably cheaper than Pay & Display tickets from the car park
machines.
Motorcycles Limited garage
parking is available (and bicycle storage), by prior arrangement.
Group
bookings including small school or college parties can be
accommodated. We also have an arrangement with neighbouring Guest Houses to take
larger parties. Sorry we do not accept Stag or Hen night groups, nor touring
sports teams.
Packed
lunches and flask filling service available. Vegetarians
catered for. Guests
are requested to advise if they have any special dietary requirements or needs.
