TERMS AND CONDITIONS
RESERVATIONS:
A
deposit equivalent to the cost of the first night's stay is required
when making a reservation. We accept cash, cheque, credit or debit
cards (except American Express). Please note that there is a
surcharge of 2.5% for all credit and debit cards.
Bookings are taken on a first come first served basis. Unless
specifically requested, individual rooms may not be reserved; rather
a room type (e.g. a double room) may be booked, but we reserve the
right to alter which room that it may be. Guests who have specific
needs (such as mobility problems) should advise us of their
requirements when making the reservation.
We
do not accept single sex parties (i.e. Hen and Stag night groups),
nor do we accept touring sports groups. We reserve the right to
decline any inappropriate booking requests.
CHECKING IN AND OUT:
Guests may check in between 11am and 12pm* or 16:00pm to 19:00pm.
Earlier or later arrivals are by prior arrangement.
*If
your room has not been cleaned due to a late check out you may still
check in and leave your bags, but you may not have access to your
room until a later specified time.
Departing guests are asked to vacate their rooms by 10.30am. We may
be able to 'hold' luggage for later collection, but only by prior
arrangement.
CANCELLATION:
All deposits are non refundable. All bookings made without a deposit
are made on the understanding that the room is ‘secured’ on a credit
or debit card. A deposit is generally equivalent to the cost of the
first nights stay for the whole booking.
‘Secured’ in this instance means that we will take the equivalent
value of a deposit from a credit or debit card where a booking has
been cancelled with less than two weeks notice; or the equivalent of
the whole booking in the event of a ‘no show’ or a cancellation with
less than a weeks notice.
The
single exception to this policy is in the case of special events
(such as – Folk Week, Goth Weekend, 60’s Weekend, Soul Weekend, Line
Dancing Weekend, Regatta etc.) where we will take the equivalent
value of a deposit from a credit or debit card where a booking has
been cancelled with less than one months notice; or the equivalent
of the whole booking in the event of a ‘no show’ or a cancellation
with less than two weeks notice.
SETTLEMENT OF ACCOUNT: Balances of accounts should be
settled upon arrival; and in exceptional circumstances, no later
than the day prior to departure. Please note that due to banking
charges, a 2.5% surcharge is applied to all credit card and debit
card transactions.
WEEKEND STAYS:
Any stay that includes a Saturday night must be for a minimum of two
nights. Only in exceptional circumstances can we accept a one night
weekend stay, then a supplement may be applied.
FESTIVALS AND BANK HOLIDAY WEEKENDS:
Please note that we only accept a minimum of 3 night bookings for
any of the Bank Holiday weekends or music festivals. The October
Goth Festival incurs a minimum of 4 nights stay and the Whitby Folk
Festival incurs a minimum 6 night stay.
GIFT VOUCHERS:
Gift Vouchers will be honoured up to 1 year from date of issue.
Their use by recipients will be dependent upon availability, and we
reserve the right to decline unreasonable booking requests.
VISITORS
REGISTRATION:
Under the Immigration (Hotel Records) Order 1972, all hotels, guest
houses, bed & breakfasts, etc. must keep a record of the full name
and nationality of their guests over 16 years of age. Aliens must
also record the number and place of issue of their passport, their
nationality and their next destination. To that end, a Guest
Registration form, located in reception, must be completed upon
arrival.
DAMAGE
/ BEHAVIOUR:
Malicious or accidental damage caused by guests will be charged for
at the full replacement cost of the damaged item. An additional
cleaning charge will be levied when appropriate, e.g. heavily soiled
bedding, stained carpets, etc.For the comfort of others, boisterous
and rowdy behaviour will not be tolerated and if necessary,
disruptive guests will be asked to leave. Children are to be kept
under control at all times.
SMOKING:
We
are a strictly Non-Smoking establishment throughout. Should any
guest be found to be smoking within the building (including ‘hanging
out’ the windows), they will be charged a £50.00 cleaning fee, asked
to leave, and in appropriate circumstances, reported to the police.
